Van Noy's edge dominance and special teams fireworks propel Minnesota past Tampa Bay

What the film showed

The tape showed a battle decided by edge pressure and special teams execution. Tampa Bay's offensive line experienced opposite extremes: Tristan Wirfs delivered a pass-blocking clinic, but Luke Goedeke repeatedly succumbed to inside counters, surrendering multiple sacks. Inside, Buccaneers defensive linemen Vita Vea and Elijah Roberts overpowered Minnesota interior blockers Blake Brandel and Donovan Jackson in the run game. However, Minnesota's defense controlled critical passing downs. Elite edge rusher Kyle Van Noy repeatedly collapsed Tampa Bay's pocket, while linebackers Blake Cashman and Eric Wilson brought decisive blitzes against Baker Mayfield to keep Tampa Bay behind the chains.

Van Noy headlined the film with an elite 91 grade, stacking backfield run stops and two key sacks. Myles Price provided an explosive boost in the return game, while Aaron Jones executed cleanly as an outside runner and blitz protector. For the Buccaneers, Wirfs (83) and Vea (80) dominated their individual matchups, and A'Shawn Robinson contributed a takeaway. However, Tampa Bay was sabotaged by low-graded outings from Goedeke, tight end Payne Durham, and cornerback Kevin Knowles, whose missed lane assignments proved costly.

The game swung decisively on third downs and special teams breakdowns. At Q1 09:00, Price exploited lost edge contain by Knowles to return a punt 86 yards for a touchdown. After a Dallas Turner face mask allowed Tampa Bay to respond with a 40-yard score at Q1 06:50, Minnesota struck back at Q2 04:17 when Kyler Murray connected deep with Jordan Addison for a 41-yard touchdown. Drives by Tampa Bay continually unraveled under pressure, punctuated by Van Noy's sack at Q2 13:49 and Wilson's split sack at Q2 00:34.
