Joseph Ossai has posted a detrimental 55.5 overall grade through his lone appearance of the 2026 season, making it too early to draw sweeping conclusions across a larger sample. His sub-replacement level of play over 29 snaps against Detroit was primarily driven by costly lapses in run defense, earning a 52.4 facet grade. Although he flashed initial promise by stoning an outside zone reach block to help force a tackle for loss, his edge containment deteriorated sharply after halftime. He was repeatedly hooked by tight ends on the perimeter, directly surrendering a 17-yard touchdown run and another chunk gain. Combined with a neutral 60.0 pass-rush grade that generated minimal disruption, his negative edge-setting snaps defined his debut.
