Season so far
It is still early in the season for Willie Gay Jr., who has logged just one appearance and 27 snaps for Miami. His 66.8 overall grade against Kansas City puts him at replacement level, driven largely by solid perimeter run defense and competent special teams blocking. He showed high-level flashes on crucial downs, highlighted by setting a hard edge against Travis Kelce for a fourth-down stop and containing outside sweeps late in the fourth quarter. However, Gay's mark was dampened by getting caught on play-action flow for a 24-yard throwback completion and failing to shed a block on a 10-yard touchdown run. With only a single week in the books, his consistency will need to be evaluated over a larger sample.
